The American Forage and Grassland Council (AFGC) is currently seeking nominations for the Board of Directors.  Being nominated to serve on the board of the organization serving as the leading voice for economically and environmentally sound forage based agriculture is an honor.  The mission of AFGC is to bring producers, educators, scientists, and industry together to promote and advance forages in agriculture.

Participation in AFGC’s Board of Directors provides an opportunity to contribute in the forage industry, including: enhancing education offered to the forage industry, working with forage industry professionals and much more.

Participation in AFGC’s Board of Directors also carries with it certain time commitments, commitments of your personal time and commitments of time away from your home base. 

The following gives you some idea of this commitment:

• Directors serve two-year terms.Board meetings are usually held as follows: 
        January—1 day in conjunction with Annual Conference (1/2 day prior to conference and ½ day after conference). Summer—1 day.
• Board members are assigned to chair a committee.  Committee work can generally be conducted and completed from your office.
• Missing more than two board meetings without board approval is the equivalent of resigning your position on the board.
• AFGC does not cover cost to attend board meetings since they are held in conjunction with other AFGC functions.  AFGC does have a small budget to assist producers with travel costs if needed.
